On Saturday morning, after scant sleep for Briana, we headed off to Barry Fletcher and his delightful wife Jo’s country estate in County Cork. We had the coordinates set in the GPS, but Barry’s mom Eileen had made it sound impossible to get there without a guide car, so Barry met up with us just off the main Waterford – Cork road.
Jo had made amazing scones and wonderful soda bread for our visit. Their home is high up on a hill where you can see in three directions amazing distances. We decided on the spot that we have to come back and stargaze with them and stay overnight.
One of the highlights for Briana in particular were their three entertaining dogs. We think Ozzy, the drool dappled Newfoundland was her favorite. Having said that Millie and Pip were much more adept at chasing balls and keeping track of everything going on within their acre estate.
It was a fun afternoon, and we can’t wait to go back and visit for a longer stay. Before the sun set, but after naps for all three of us, we headed off to one of our favorite beaches, Tramore, for a tide line walk and fish and chips and a 99 cone. What is a 99? Well it used to be a 99 cent cone with a chocolate flake in it. It is double that now, but still a sinfully delicious way to end a day.
